Frequent consumption of between-meal snacks high in sugar and starches can promote tooth decay, while the sugar alcohol xylitol may reduce the risk of dental caries. XyliSmart xylitol is known as a low-glycemic index (GI) sweetener due to its slow absorption into the bloodstream, which does not result in the rapid changes in blood glucose concentrations in response to sucrose.
